Toulouse Business School

Based in metropolis heart, historical learning institutions were developed on an introverted figure. Belonging to monastery history, they offer a stark frontage onto the streets and an heart center opened and organised around a patio most of time richly vegetated but suffering from its very urban situation. This had been thought in order to protect and concentrate knowledge physically from the streets as well as from ordinary town.

Every part of the district being considered as a territorial monad, finding itself its own reason of being, it secretly waits its accomplishment time.

The huge opportunity to build at Compans-Caffarelli is to reverse this paradigm. The new campus shall be promoting synergies between big university learning institution, business intelligence and to open onto the town.

Toulouse Business School (TBS) project amplifies the natural paths of students and inhabitants. It does not include any prime frontage. It multiplies contact signs and synergies with the town and every face is thought to respond to its context and to its vis-à-vis, including its entire rooftop. The public space is entirely thought with the most intuitive possible porosity in order to facilitate access to the public equipments.

A building sculpted by urban local district’s diversity. The project has been thought and designed taking in consideration major advantages guidelines of the area : the eastern axis, opening on the Compans Gardens landscape, along the college sport fields ; Lucien Lafforgue street axis initiating the entrance gymnasium’s courtyard as a background of gentle perspective from the Canal ; entrance of Hélène Boucher’s college axis allowing a proximity and direct clarity from the gymnasium to the college entrance ; Canon d’Arcole street flow in order to constitute the place for the school entrance.
