Bègles Housings
This gesture, while it evokes a simple technique of the builder, can find the same analogy when reproduced at the collective scale. The technique is logical and controlled and its method allows great flexibility in the composition of what could be the brick wall. Like a perforated wall, the collective housing is qualitative and rational, organised according to a balanced rhythm between the full and the empty, so that each “habitable brick” composes with an able external space : it can be the private terrace, the suspended garden as the extra room of housing. This place of appropriation contributes to the expression of a new form of habitat that tends to find the intimacy of the individual house. It is a living room crossed by the light, which opens sometimes on a vegetal landscape, sometimes on a soft urban landscape : in Begles, the city is confused in the nature.
In this urbanist logic, the “inhabited bricks” gather around a large garden that composes, an architectural partition with the vegetal rhythm of the terraces.
These bricks are articulated according to an efficient structured principle which allows the unity of the project as the diversity of typologies of housing. They build a place dedicated to the walk and defined by a hierarchical route from the public space to the private garden on which the large bays of a bathed in light stay.
