Creutzwald
Set within the contours of the Warndt Park, in the heart of the forested area adjacent to the German border, this project for the creation of a logistics platform is oriented towards the objective of insertion into a strong context, with a rational architecture tending towards sublimated sobriety, where framework and ornamentation will play a predominant role.
The design process is based on two concepts:
INTEGRATION, by cutting the overall volume to reinstate an existing forest strip, reinterpreted and requalified by the landscaping project. This planted interstice, located between storage cells one and two, will house the office space required to run the logistics platform. An additional volume, modulated by the "thrust" of the vegetation, then presenting recesses and emergences to more fully establish an architectural marker.
COMPOSITION, with the division of a linear horizontal template generally perceived as unified and monotonous into two distinct strata, intersected vertically by a homogenous, foundational grid emitted by the cut joints of the semi-polished cladding employed.
The lower stratum, clad in rhythmic micro-ribbed cladding, will allude to the passages and circulations at ground level. The upper stratum, with its smooth, simple and uncluttered cladding, will play with the foliage of the surrounding trees and the sky.
A hollow joint, with a stainless steel sheet, underlines the break between the two layers, top and bottom, and slightly evokes a floating effect. This continuous joint will be turned over to form a raised profile around the perimeter of the office volume, a volume that is integral to the cells in terms of materiality, and a disassociated volume in terms of the built front and more organic morphology.
