The Chabanais
If past and future have decided the celebrate the contemporary, The Chabanais could be the result of timeless pleasure.
Located in London’s luxurious Mount Street, the restaurant treats the different temporalities past, present and future. The project is a very fine link between architecture and culinary art. He met with the intrinsic qualities of transparency, colours and durable materials.
On the ground floor, a brass envelope, placed on the wall and floor creates an atmosphere, it is sublimated by three minerals strips - made of different marbles - materialised by the tables.
They promote different taste experiences and offer several social configurations. These lines are the basis of this unique culinary experience. The presence of the long counter, the main line of this composition, the release date of the public, the table numbers sitting on wooden high chairs, but also by the servers that revolve around. The combination of traditional materials in the service of contemporary composition allows the re-adaptation of the definition of pleasure. The brass contents then dialogue with the coffered ceiling. The lower floor of an intimate atmosphere, consisting of a single triangular bar, padded with green leather and punctured horizontal marble surfaces.
This work can be considered a decoration but like architecture, is like an urban architectural madness. Thus, materials used for kitchen instruments, such as brass, or hygienic finishes, such as marble, are implemented in an abstraction reflecting a hedonistic experience.
