Chantal Crousel galerie 1
The Chantal Crousel galerie was the site of an experiment on monolithic furniture. Able to embody sophisticated abstraction (at the same time a presence, an absence, a background, a beginning, a block, a base), it could not lose the ability to meet the demand for the diversity of uses it must serve.
It serves as a table, desk, or even sculpture. It folds to present a book, opens to serve as a storage, then resumes its original form as if nothing had happened. At the same time very present by the stability that the purity of its form suggests, it can also disappear under the use that is made of it. Sometimes as an exposed object or as an exhibition medium, its abstraction attempts to sublimate the presence of work in an exhibition space, blurring the limits of representation.
