Airport of the future
The project for a resilient airport is part of a global reflection on the climate resilience of infrastructures. Indeed, such a reflection could not avoid dealing with the subject of airports, given their strategic importance, universal character and often high exposure to the risks associated with climate change.
This project is rooted in the observation that these infrastructures are binary in nature: they meet universal functional requirements, yet have to be set up in contexts that are always different and sometimes hostile. The theoretical airport is therefore approached not as a finished project, but as a set of operating instructions, enabling both replicability and adaptability.
By questioning the globalized aesthetics of contemporary airports - heroic structures of glass and steel - through the prism of a modular, grounded approach, the project for a resilient airport is woven into a complex compromise between global concerns and local anchoring.
The airport is studied as an object in its own right, but it also forms part of a wider risk management process, contributing to the resilience of the territory on a large scale.
